DONALD MURRAY, Private, 2nd Seaforth High-
landers ; eldest son of Mr Donald Murray, 22 North
Tolsta ; died at Hcmerton Military Hospital on 11th Octo-
ber, 1915, as the result of wounds received at Hill 60 on
9th May, 1915. Aged 19 years. Private Murray had been
at the front for seven months before being wounded. His
father enlisted in the Royal Naval Reserve in December,
1914.
DONALD J. MACIVER, 2nd Lieutenant, 4th Cameron
Highlanders ; son of Widow Angus Maciver, 8 Callanish ;
wounded at the Battle of Loos on 29th September, 1915,
and died at the Base Hospital on 14th October, 1915.
Aged 24 years. Lieutenant Maciver, before enlisting, was
studying for the ministry at the University of Edinburgh.
His brother, Neil, is serving with the Canadians.
JOHN SMITH, Royal Naval Reservist; son of the late
Mr Angus Smith, 20 Aird-of-Tong ; drowned or killed
when his ship was blown up at sea on 20th October, 1915.
KENNETH MACAULAY, Royal Naval Reservist ; son of
Mr Angus Macaulay, 19 Breasclet ; killed at sea on 25th
October, 1915. Aged 22 years. He was serving on board
H.M.S. "Yelox," which on the date mentioned gave
chase to a German submarine. The submarine
dropped a mine in her wake, with which, unfor-
tunately, tli e "Velox" came into contact. Kenneth Mac-
aulay and two others were on the look-out at the bow,
and all three were killed by the explosion. His brothers,
Donald and George, are also Royal Naval Reservists, and
have been serving with the Grand Fleet since the com-
mencement of the war.
JOHN MACDONALD, Royal Naval Reservist; son of
Mr Angus Macdonald, 2 Swordale, Stornoway ; drowned
at the Dardanelles on the night of 28th-29th October, 1915.
Aged IT years. He had been serving on H.M.S. " Hythe,"
which collided with a British torpedo boat on the date
mentioned, and was sunk with the loss of 9 of the crew and
145 soldiers who were on board at the time. Macdonald
