ANDERSON— CHARLES P., Plymville, Captain, R.F.A.; men-
tioned in despatches, 1917 Awarded Military Cross for gal-
lantry and good service in the field, 1918- JOHN N., Major,
R.F.A. ; was wounded in action, 5th June, 1918; afterwards
gassed. Awarded Croix de Guerre with silver star, by French
Government for good service at Kemniel Hill. Accompanying
the decoration was the following recommendation : — "An offi-
cei with presence of mind and remarkable courage, called upon
unexpectedly to take command of a battery after having suffered
very heavy losses in officers and men, brought it back rapidly to
the fight at a critical moment, under one of the most violent of
enemy bombardments." (Sons of ex-Provost J. N. Anderson)

MACLEOD— *DUN CAN, Craigleor, loth Canadian Scottish; killed
in action, 2nd July, 1917; aged 29. Twice previously
wounded. Enlisted 24th August, 1914. (Son of the late Mi-
George Macleod, prison governor).

MALCOLM, 2nd Camerons. (Sons of the late Mr Malcolm
Macdonald, baker).
SIME— ROBERT J., Brigade Trumpeter, R.H.A., holds Mons
Star. Had 22 years service with the Colours and, when time
expired re-enlisted for the duration of the war; was through
the whole of the Boer War, for which he has the King's and
Oueen's Medals with seven clasps; and also wears good conduct
medal. THOMAS, 4th H.M.B. GEORGE J., R N.R. (Sons
of. Sergt. -Major Robert Sime).
25 BAIN— KENNETH I)., E.R.A., R.N.V.R. (Son of Mr Louis
Bain, fish curer).
26 MACRAE — *JOHN A., Trooper, Scottish Horse; came from Chili
to enlist. Went with Scottish Horse to Gallipoli; struck down
with dysentery and invalided home; on being passed again for
service went to France attached to the Yorkshire Regiment;
died of wounds in field hospital. WILLIAM E., 1st Class Air
Mechanic, R.A.F. (Sous of Mr James Macrae, contractor).

wounded. DUNCAN, Lieut .-Colonel, R.A.M.C; was with
Egyptian Forces from 1915; took part in Senussi Campaign
and afterwards was attached to Egyptian Expeditionary Force
in Palestine.

HENDERSON— JOHN H., Corpl., R.A.S.C. ; wounded.
MAGARTHUR— MURDO. Engineer-Lieut., R.N.R. DONALD.
Australian Infantry; twice wounded. *ALEXANDER, A.B.,
Royal Navy; killed" at battle of Jutland, 3Jst May, 1916." Aged
26 years. Had been ranching in the United States before
coming to do his bit. After six months' training he transferred
from R.N.D. to R.N., and was on board H.M.S. "Defence"
when killed. (Sons of the late Mr Alexander Macarthur, mer-
chant) .
