Owing - to the difficulty of obtaining official lists of soldiers of the Overseas Forces
who were killed or died on service, the records shown are taken from the following
sources : —
(1) From outbreak of War to end of July 1917 " Times " Newspaper Official
Casualty Lists. Indicated in individual names by (T.).
(2) From August 1917 until end of War, War Office Weekly Official Casualty
List. Indicated in individual names by (W.O.).
In the Official Casualty Lists after August 1917 no ranks were shown for the
Australian Forces, and in the instances where the full name, rank, and battalion are
shown these have been supplied by the Australian Government.
