My foul is exceeding forrowful.
Q^ Wherein doth your foul differ from your
body?
A. My body is made of flefh and blood, and it
will die ; but my foul is a fpirit, and it will live
after my body is dead.
See anfwer 1. Luke xxiv. 39. A fpirit hath
not fiefh and bones. Job xxxiv. 14. 15. If he
gather to himfelf his ipirit and his breath, -all
fiefh fhall perifh together, and man fhall return
again to duff. Eccl. xii. 7. Then fhall the
duff return to the earth as it was, and the fpirit
to God that gave it. Matth. x, 28. Fear not
them who can kill the body, but are not able to
kill the foul.
Q^ For what purpofe did God make you" fuch
a creature, with a body and a foul ?
A. To know him and ferve him here on earth,
that I may dwell with him, and be happy hereafter
in heaven.
What is written If. xliii. 21. may be applied
to all mankind, (viz,) This people have I form-
ed for myfelf, they fhall (or Jhould) mew forth
my praife. Fiat, lxxiii. 24. Thou fhalt guide me
by thy couniel, and afterward receive me to glory.
Pial.xvi. n. In thy prefence is*fulnefs of joy.
Q. How muff you learn to know God and
ferve him ?
A. By the holy fcriptures of the Old and New
Tefbment, which are the word of God.
2Tim.iii. 16. All fcripture is given by infpi-
ration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for re-
proof, for correction, for inftruction in righteouf-
