Nov, 20, 1299. Disseisine should be suspended during the Prosecution of
the Scottish War.f
* This Tvas the place at which the military retainers were required to muster.
t We have here a specimen of the means adopted by King Edward the First for
the carrying on of his Scottish wars, and of the inducements which he held out for
individuals to engage in them. Other temptations were not wanting, of which see
proofs in Rot. Scot., I. 51, 52.
