PAT^ISH OF INNERKIP.
In the parish churchyard is the burying-place of Sir Gabriel
Wood, founder of the Mariners' Institution at Greenock which
bears his name. A tombstone commemorates his father, Gabriel
Wood, a highly respected merchant of Greenock, who died
23rd October, 1828, aged eighty-four.
PARISH OF KILMALCOLM.
The old family of Porterfield, of that ilk, interred in a vault con-
nected with the old church ; it bore the following inscriptions : —
" Bvreit heir lyis,
That deth defyis,
Of Porterfeild's the race ;
Qvho be the sprit,
To Christ unite,
Are heirs of gloir throw grace.
1566."
" This anagrame vnfold my bvilder sal,
His name qvha vil into this sentence seik,
Til flie the il, mak gvid report of al :
Gvilliame sal find, Porterfeild of that ilk.
Zeirs sevintie fyve, to live, he livit and mo.
And nov for ay livs with the Gods but vo."
PARISH OF LOCHWINNOCH.
Within the walls of the Old Collegiate Church is the burying-
place of the old family of Sempill, of Castle Semple.
