PARISH OF WIGTON. 357
" And his son John of honest fame,
Of stature small and a leg lame ;
Content he was with portion small,
Kept shop in Wigtoun and that's all."
" Frazers McCrachan near this stone here lyes,
Twelve generations many familys ;
Those ancient clans each age to dvist did come, •
JNIay teach that here is not onr fix^d home."
" Farewell, vain world, I've had enough of thee.
And now I'm careless what thou say'st of me ;
Thy smiles I court not, nor thy frowns I fear,
My days are past, my head lys quiet here,
Vain worldly pomp and grandeur shun.
My glass is done and your's far run."
At Torhouse, three miles west of Wigton, a monument consisting
of three large blocks of trap rock is known as King Galdus's Tomb.
Galdus was a King of the Scots ; he is supposed to have conquered
this province from the Eomans.
