Verdict. The qvihilk day, Mr Johnne Howiefoune Minifter at Cambuflang
being euterit on jjannell, dilatit, accufit and perfewit be Mr Thomas Hammiltoune
of Drumcarne and Williame Haert of Lewielandis aduocattis to our fouerane lord
for his hienes interes, for the treifonable falcifeing, &c. (here the Dittay is repeat-
ed.) The quhilkis crymes, the faid Mr Johnne, eftir reding of his faid Dittay and
accufatioun, alluterlie' denying, eftir diuerfe alledgeances and declaratiounis
maid be him of his innocencie thairof, and anfueris maid thairto be the Aduo-
cattis, he ofTerit him to the tryell of ane Alfyife for the faidis crymes : And thair-
fore the Juftice-depute patt him to the tryell of ane Alfyis of the perfounes vn-
der written, thay ar to fay Cornelius Cudbert Merchand burges of Edinburghe/
&c. Quhilkis perfounes being chofm, fworne and admittit, and the faid Mr
Jolmne Howiefoun being accufit, be Dittay, of the crymes aboue writtin in thair
prefens : Lyke as the faidis perfewaris produceand the faid JNIr Johnnis Depofi-
tioun fubfcryuit with his hand, maid in prefens of the Lordis of Secreit Counfall,
att Halyruidhous the xv of this inftant, togidder with the Depofitioun of Robert
Waldgi-ave fubfcrjniit with his hand, maid in the Tolbuitli of Edinburgh, quhair
he wes wardit, the fe^'int of Februar inftant, togidder with the faid fals im-
