BE je ane luvar, think je nocht suld
Be weill adwysit in jour gouerning ?

Be nocht a wreche, nor skerche in jour spending, 5
Be layth alway to do amiss or schame;
Be rewlit rycht and keip this doctring,
Be secreit, trew, incressing of jour name.
Be je ane lear, that is werst of all,
Be je ane tratlar, that I hald als ewill; 1 o
Be je ane janglar, and je fra vertew fall,
Be nevir mair on to thir vicis thrall;
Be now and ay the maistir of jour will,
Be nevir he that lesing sail proclame;
Be nocht of langage quhair je suld be still, 15
Be secreit, trew, incressing of jour name.
Be nocht abasit for no wicket tung,
Be nocht sa set as I haif said jow heir;
Be nocht sa lerge vnto thir sawis sung,
