How to keep well in wartime

The foreword by the Minister of Health states that 22 million weeks' work is lost each year due to 'Colds and influenza, dyspepsia, biliousness, neurasthenia, rheumatism, boils and other septic conditions.'

One of the many pieces of guidance includes: 'Advice to the fat: you need not, of course, eat your ration of sweets'.

The purpose of the booklet was to ensure the British public were fit and active members of the workforce, and therefore the war effort.
