Meet the US Army
Written by the poet Louis MacNeice, whose work for the BBC on US culture was well-established, this booklet emphasizes elements of culture that the US and the UK have in common.
It points out the differences too: 'When an American speaks of the hood of a car he means what we call the bonnet; when he says vest he means waistcoat; and when he says undershirt he means vest.'
