| Description | Photograph of a four storey tenement with shops on the ground floor. On the left past the building a narrow street can be seen with pedestrians walking along it. On the right ther are number of carts at the edge of the pavement with people loading or unloading them. Two of the shops have awnings which are open over their shop fronts. On the right in the foreground there is a tall streetlamp with a decorative bracket and half way up thit there is a sign attached that reads ' Please do not spit on the pavement.' |

| Description | 138 black-and-white photographs taken in 1929 taken by Alfred Henry Rushbrook on behalf of the City of Edinburgh Improvement Trust. Shows tenements and shops around St Leonards before buildings were pulled down for slum clearance. Half-plate gelatin-silver prints. Precise address of building is given where known. |
