Mrs. George Parker, Emily, Ada and George. Probably taken in Fairlie, Ayrshire. The Parkers lived in Fairlie House. Anne Traill was the wife of George Parker, the son of Fairlie House’s builder, Charles Stuart Parker; born in 1814, her father was a Professor Thomas Traill of Edinburgh University. The children: George was born in 1837, Emily in 1838, and Ada in 1840. There were a further two children—Charles, born in 1842, and Evelyn, born in 1845. None of the children survived to adulthood; about 1852 the family sailed for America, where Anne’s husband died, in New York, and the children in Hamilton, Ontario. Annie Parker returned to live on in Fairlie House, and on her death her nephew, Charles Stuart Parker inherited; it was he and his wife who had Fairlie Village Hall built.
