Mrs. Fisher and John Allan. Mrs. Helen Fisher, pictured here with John Allan at his front door, was Mary and Archibald Fisher's daughter-in-law. Helen was born about 1811 and was married to Peter Fisher (1811-1903), a handloom weaver initially, before becoming a fisherman—his fishing boat is pictured on Page 48) and, latterly, a gardener. John Allan was the gardener at Fairlie Craig.
