| Description | The only surviving travel journal of Patrick Leigh Fermor (1915-2011), written in 1933. In his youth, Paddy journeyed on foot through Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Istanbul, and Mount Athos in Greece. His experience produced one of the 20th century's greatest travel trilogies – 'Time of gifts' (1977), 'Between the woods and the water' (1986) and 'The broken road' (2013) – partly based on this journal, which includes sketches among the absorbing text. |
