The Royal National Mod
The Royal National Mòd is one of the largest and best known Gaelic events in the world and has been supporting and promoting the Gaelic language and culture since it was first held in 1892. Organised by An Comunn Gàidhealach, it is an annual competition comprising instrumental, choral, literary and sporting competitions.
An Comunn itself has a rich history of campaigning on many aspects of Gaelic language and Highland life since it was formed in 1891, on topics as diverse as Gaelic education and land reform.
