A special effort has been made to secure the latest information available for each country
and to keep the series as up-to-date as possible. Great progress has been made in this direction,
thanks to the co-operation of certain Governments, by extending the cable service with overseas
countries. Statistics are given for at least fifteen months in order to facilitate comparison
between the most recent figures and those of the corresponding period of the previous year.
