The principal factors in Argentine production, in order of importance, are agriculture
and stock-breeding.
The value of the annual average production in various branches may be divided as

Agricultural Products.
The Argentine occupies the fourth place among the large grain producing countries
in respect of the area under cultivation and the total production, and the first place in
respect of the volume of exports.
The large surplus available for export is due to the relatively small population
compared with the fertility of the soil, and to the vast extent of the territory, which is
equal to Austria, Czechoslovakia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy,
Poland, and Switzerland together.
