carried on in places whenever small-pox cases were discovered. In certain areas in this
district, such as Kamalabari in the Majuli where opposition to vaccination is great the
epidemic was most severe.

5.  Dispensary vaccination.—During the triennium under review the number of
operations performed by the dispensary staff was 10,507 as compared with 4,612 in
the preceding triennium. Villages around dispensaries are allotted to vaccinators, but
when small-pox breaks out in the neighbourhood of a dispensary people prefer to
attend for vaccination at the dispensary.

The number of primary operations performed during 1925-26 was 2,353 and re-
vacinations 3,094 while the corresponding figures for 1924-25 were 1,457 and 1,504
and for 1923-24, 1,363 and 736.

The ratio of persons successfully vaccinated during the year 1925-26 was 54.57 per
1,000 of population compared with 45.37 in 1924-25 and 41.93 in 1923-24.

7.  Different methods of vaccination.—All vaccination operations in the triennium
were, as usual, performed with glycerinated lymph manufactured in the Vaccine Depôt
at Shillong.

8.  Vaccination work in different districts.—The following statement shows the
progress of vaccination in different districts of the province during the triennium 1923-
24, 1924-25 and 1925-26 as compared with the preceding one : —
