Extract from the Proceedings of the Resident at Hyderabad, No. 2191, dated
Hyderabad Residency, the 29th June 1894.

READ—

Notes on the Annual Returns of Vaccination in the Hyderabad Assigned Districts for the year 1893-94.

ORDER.

The vaccination returns for 1893-94, with the Sanitary Commissioner's
Notes on them, were received on due date in the Resident's office. The princi-
pal features of the year's work have been noticed by the Commissioner, and
Mr. Plowden is satisfied with the results attained. The practice of vaccination
is well established in the rural districts of Berar, but the Resident believes that
opposition is still met with in some of the larger towns. The figures in the tabu-
lar statement on page 4 and the diagram on page 5 illustrate the effects of
vaccination as a prophylactic against small-pox in a striking way.

2. The Resident is pleased to sanction the grant of the rewards recommended
in paragraph 8 of Surgeon-Lieutenant-Colonel Little's Notes.

(By order.)

                                                                        A. L. P. TUCKER,

                                                                        Secretary for Berar.
