8. The number of vaccinations at dispensaries rose from 6,560 to 7,238,
approaching closely the figures of 1884-85.
9. Table No. 9 is of importance as giving the death-rates from small-pox per
1,000 of the population, year by year, for the past 19 years. Taking the mean of
the three first periods of five years, there is a steady and satisfactory decrease, which,
unless there is an abnormal amount of this sickness during 1887, gives every
promise of being continuous. In this respect Berar compares favourably with
most other Provinces.
10. In conclusion the Resident has much pleasure in acknowledging the
assistance given to the Vaccination Department by the officials, patels, and pandias
who are specially mentioned in the concluding paragraph of the Report.
