Remarks by the Resident at Hyderabad on the Report on Vaccination in the
Hyderabad Assigned Districts, for the year
1873-74.

THE Commissioner's letter forwarding this report notices the main
points of the work carried on by the Vaccination Department during the
past year; and all that the Resident thinks it necessary to add is the assur-
ance of his warm interest in that work, and of his confidence that the Dis-
trict Officers will do their best to second the efforts which have been made
by Doctor Abbott and his subordinates.

2.    It is unfortunate that the total number of successful cases and the
percentage of successful to unsuccessful cases were less than in the previous
year. With reference to his remarks on the use of indifferent lymph and
the non-arrival in proper time of the supply from England, Doctor Abbott
will be requested to explain the cause of the delay adverted to, and to com-
municate with the Deputy Inspector General of Hospitals, with a view
to the prevention, if possible, of a similar delay in future.

3.     The Resident concurs with the Commissioner in thinking that, on
the whole, a fair amount of progress has been made during the year report-
ed on, and that Doctor Abbott has controlled this branch of his duties with
efficiency.

                                                                  (By Order.)

                                                                  G. H. TREVOR,

                                                                  Second Assistant Resident.
