It will be observed that during the year there was an increase in the West-
ern and Central Registration Districts under primary vaccination, and an in-
crease in the Western and Sind Registration Districts under re-vaccination, but
a considerable decrease under primary vaccination in Sind and under both heads
in the Southern and Gujarát Registration Districts. There was a net decrease of
10,790 in the total operations. There were 300 vaccinators and 34 candidates.
The vaccinators primarily vaccinated 517,682 and re-vaccinated 30,499 persons.
The number primarily vaccinated successfully was 486,177 and re-vaccinated
successfully 17,985 or 93.91 and 58.97 per cent. respectively.

The total cost amounted to Rs. 95,586-12-10 and each successful case
cost annas 3. Unsuccessful and unknown respectively in primary operations
amounted to 7,006 and 25,384, and in re-vaccinations 5,081 and 7,434.

There were 885 secondary operations and one re-vaccination repeated.
Each vaccinator, on an average, operated on 1,827 persons.

In primary vaccination the decrease is in the Native States of Pálanpur
and Cutch and those in the Southern Registration Circle and in re-vaccination
in the Native States of the Western and Gujarát Registration Circles and in
Pálanpur. The net increase is 404. There are 189 vaccinators and 16 candidates,
3 of whom work as vaccinators. The Káthiáwár State entertained 11 additional
vaccinators and 3 candidates during the year. The number primarily vaccinated
were 323,345 and re-vaccinated 14,565, and of these 309,676 and 7,547 or 95.77
and 65.55 per cent. respectively were successful. The unsuccessful and unknown
in primary vaccination were 7,449 and 6,985 and in re-vaccination 2,390
and 2,641. There were 765 secondary operations and 13 re-vaccinations repeated.
The total cost amounted to Rs. 79,395-5-5 or annas 4 per each successful case.
The average number operated on by each vaccinator was 1,760.

Work of dispensary officers.

32. Vaccination was carried on in 15 dispensaries. The annexed table
shows the progress of vaccination in Dispensaries by
each district and circle:—
