24. In compliance with paragraph 5 of Government Resolution, in the

number of villages visited as well as those left un-

In Sind both kacha and puka villages are included.
It will be seen from the above statement, that out of 55,103 villages in the
Presidency, 47,513 were visited by vaccinators, and 7,590 or 13.77 per cent,
were not visited. In British territory out of 40,020 villages 35,301 were
visited and 4,719 or 11.79 not visited; whilst in Native States 12,212 out of
15,083 villages were visited and 2,871 or 19.03 per cent. were not visited during
the year.
Inoculation.
25. Inoculation was not reported to have been practised anywhere in the
Presidency, and no instances were reported of any
disease having been communicated through vaccination.
The quality of the vaccination work performed of late years has vastly improved ;
in fact wherever animal lymph is used it could not be better, especially when the
system of multiple vesicles is carefully carried out, as in the larger towns of the
Southern and Central Registration Districts, and in the City of Bombay.
Conclusion.
26. In conclusion I would bring to the favourable notice of Government
the zeal, energy and judgment in the discharge of their
duties shown by the supervising officers—Drs. Colah,
Clarkson, Channer, Peacocke. Street, D. S. O., and Assistant Surgeon S. V. Kantak,
Superintendent of Vaccination, Presidency Circle.
C. W. MACRUKY, Surgeon.Lieut.-Colonel,
Sanitary Commissioner.
Sanitary Commissioner's Office,
Bombay, 1st June 1892.
