by Her Excellency Lady Hardinge in her address. Provision has been made
in the Annual Budget of the Jaipur Medical Department, for the maintenance
of this cottage Hospital.
STATEMENT B.
Attendance at Hospitals.
51. During the year 1,500,960 patients were treated at State Public,
State special, and private non-aided, i.e., Native States Dispensaries and
Hospitals against 1,404,152 patients in 1911 and 1,474,377 in 1910. The
attendance at General Dispensaries rose to 1,455,921 from 1,368,168 in 1911
and 1,430,256 in 1910 while that at Female Dispensaries rose to 45,039 from
35,984 in 1911 and 44,121 in 1910. The total in-door attendance increased
to 19,233 from 16,798 in 1911 and 17,608 in 1910 and, the out-door attendance
rose to 1,481,727 from 1,387,354 in 1911 and 1,456,769 in 1910. The deaths
show little variation but the ratio of death per cent. to total cases treated fell
to 3.31 in 1912 as compared with 3.77 and 3.83 in the two previous years.
STATEMENTS C(i) (ii).
Diseases treated.
52. In Statement C (i) the number of deaths under each head of disease
treated in the in-door department is shown, 19,233 in-patients were treated
amongst whom 636 proved fatal as compared with 16,798 in-patients and 633
deaths in the previous year, 145 normal confinements with 3 deaths and 88
abnormal confinements with 6 deaths were reported from various hospitals
against 46 with 1 death and 34 with 8 deaths respectively in 1911. 1,481,727
out-door patients treated in 1912 are shown in statement C (ii) against
1,387,354 in 1911 and 1,456,769 in 1910. The cases treated in hospitals and
dispensaries in Rajputana under each chief cause during the year 1910, 1911
and 1912 are as follows:—

Scurvy.
53. 955 cases of scurvy were treated against 1,503 in 1911 and 1,087 in
1910.
Leprosy.
54. 487 Lepers received treatment as compared with 436 in 1911 and 426 in
1910. No special reports on the use of Nestin have been received., except
one from Captain White, I.M.S., State Surgeon, Alwar, who states that only
one case has submitted to a fair trial. The patient has now so much improved
that he refuses to leave.
