34.  In the Marwar State 795 primary vaccinations were performed by-
Sub-Assistant Surgeons in dispensary towns with a recorded percentage of
success of 98.74. 172 vaccination operations were done by two Sub-Assistant
Surgeons at Sirohi and Sheogunj and 7 at Jaisalmer.

35.  The Residency Surgeon, Jaipur, reports that the defects in the vacci-
nation work done in the different Thikanas still exist, but they are kept in view
and attempts are constantly being made to remedy them.

                                    STATEMENT II.

36.  The total expenditure on vaccination in Native States was R30,107-5-5
as compared with R29,978-4-9 in 1910-1911, an increase of R129-0-8 which is
due to the increased expenditure on establishment. The average cost of each
successful vaccination in different States varied from 12 pies in Sirohi to 113
pies in Jaisalmer, in the latter there is only a scanty population scattered over
a large area.

37.  The following table shows the number of towns and villages and
successful vaccinations seen by Residency or Agency Surgeons in Native

38.  The Native Superintendents of vaccination or other inspecting officers
inspected 104,192 vaccinations against 96,025 in 1910-1911. The percentage
of inspected cases found successful to total number seen in 1911-1912 was 98.38
against 98.65 in 1910-1911.

39.  Lymph is generally maintained throughout the year in most of the
important States by arm to arm vaccination ; glycerinated vaccine lymph
was obtained during the year from the Government Bovine Lymph Depôts and
was generally successful.

40.  The manufacture of glycerinated buffalo lymph has been commenced
at the Mayo Hospital Laboratory, Jaipur, and the results obtained were good,
153 operations were done with the result of 148 success.

41.  The Residency Surgeon, Jaipur, writes : " that with a small extra cost
it could be supplied all over the district and thus do away with arm to arm
vaccination."

42.  In accordance with the instructions contained in the Government of
India, Department of Education, letter No. 1507—1515 (Sanitary), dated the
16th August 1911, a summary has been added to Statement I showing the
particulars of vaccination. As no vaccinations are performed by " Dispensary
Staff " or by " other agencies " in Rajputana, except in the Western Rajputana
States where this work is done only by Sub-Assistant Surgeons in dispensary
towns, the information asked for in the Summary is not available.
