diate precautions were taken to check further spread of the disease.

9.  During the year 90 cases of cholera were reported from the Native
States of Rajputana of which 85 proved fatal against 11 cases and 8 deaths

and 33 deaths were reported in Jaipur
from 27th June to 17th August, 7 cases and 6 deaths in Bharatpur from 29th
September to 4th October, 42 fatal cases in Mewar from 28th November to 31st
December and 5 cases and 4 deaths in Marwar from 5th to 6th November 1911.

10.  Usual measures for its eradication were taken.

11.  No cholera map is necessary.

                                    SANITATION.

12.  Ajmer City.—Owing to scanty rainfall both the Foysagar and the
Anasagar had not a sufficient water supply for the city and suburbs as well as
for the railway workshops.

13.  Forty-six conservancy carts and 56 trolleys with receptacles have been
purchased and 4 new public urinals have been added.

14.  The Commissioner, Ajmer-Merwara, reports in connection with the
scheme for the improvement of the water supply in the city of Ajmer, that
steps are being taken to collect the further information asked for by the
Government of India. The Local Government has lately accepted the offer of
Messrs. Lane Brown and Hewlett, Civil Engineers, Lucknow, for the prepara-
tion of a detailed estimate of the new scheme at a lump sum of R7,500 and
also sanctioned a sum of R15,000 for carrying out pumping tests in the
Sagarmati valley during the hot weather of 1912.

15.  As regards the scheme for improving the Ajmer trenching ground and
night soil system, a Notification under section 6 of Act I of 1894 has been issued
by the Local Government, for the acquisition of 4,848 acres of land for
enlarging the ground.

16.  On the whole the rules for the improvement of village sanitation in
the villages of the Ajmer District have worked satisfactorily.
