The percentage of inspections by the civil surgeons of
the total number vaccinated was 8.03 primary and 8.75
re-vaccination and those by superintendents of vaccination
were 61.04 primary and 66.74 re-vaccination.

13.  Vaccination in municipal towns —

Appendix A.—Appendix A shows the number of
children under one year of age who were available for
vaccination in the municipal towns and notified areas and
the actual number of vaccinations performed on them
during the year. The excess in vaccination over births is
due to the fact that many people from across the border
when passing through submit their children for
vaccination.

14.  Case success and annual ratio of deaths from
small-pox —

Appendix B.—In appendix B are shown the number
of successful vaccinations and the mortality from small-pox
per mille of population during the past year. During the
past five years the average number of deaths from small-pox
was 359 and the average mortality per 1,000 of population
was 0.16. During the year under report 161 deaths from
small-pox were reported, giving a ratio of 07 per 1,000 of
population. The reported number of deaths from this
disease in the districts of the North West Frontier Province
during the year 1926-27 and 1927-28 was as follows:—
