The triennial report on vaccination in the United Provinces of Agra and Oudh for the years
1914-15, 1915-16, and 1916-17.

OBSERVATIONS.—The total number of vaccinations was again
considerably larger than in the previous triennium. The following
table shows the number of primary vaccinations and of revaccinations
performed in each year of both periods :—

The fall in the figures for revaccinations is not unsatisfactory, as
these figures include those for secondary vaccination in unsuccessful
cases, in which there has been a substantial decrease.

2. Garhwal again heads the list of districts highly protected against
small-pox, and Almora has also kept its position, but Naini Tal has
fallen from the 2nd place to the 5th, with only 42.71 persons successfully
vaccinated per thousand against 61.96 in 1913-14. Better results may
perhaps be hoped for in future from the appointment of a first grade
assistant superintendent of vaccination for this district which was
sanctioned at the end of the period under report. The highest average
death-rates from small-pox are recorded by Allahabad, Mirzapur, Jhansi,
and Rae Bareli. In Allahabad and Rae Bareli the proportion of
protected persons is considerably below the average. The figures for the
former district are remarkable :—

The low measure of protection and the high death-rate of Sultanpur
were the subject of special remark three years ago. The former has
