(vii) Nasal Feeding.—During the year under report 1,718
Nasal feeds were given to those patients who persistently refused
to eat or drink.

(viii) Diversional Therapy (Games and Amusement).—
(a) Foot-ball.—10 foot-ball matches were played, in the local
League Shield competitions and friendly matches, by the
hospital team during the year under report of which won 2 and
lost 8.

(b) Hockey.—7 Hockey matches were also played of which
won 2, draw 1 and lost 4.

Besides some of the patients daily play tennis, badminton,
basket balls, coits and various other outdoor games.

Every evening, except on Cinema nights nearly 200 patients
assemble daily in the Amusement Halls of both the sections
and amuse themselves with various indoor games and music, and
those who are literate and are fond of reading, are provided with
daily newspapers, Weeklies and Magazines, etc.

(c) Special entertainments.—The following is a list of special
entertainments given to the patients during the year under
report:—

1.  The Annual Hospital Sports.
2.  Christmas Tree.
3.   Dancing performance by Professor Ismail and Party.
4.  Theatrical performance by the students of the Prince
of Wales Medical College, Patna and Indian
Mental Hospital staff (combined)
5.  Magic performance by Professor Manjhu.
6.  Magic performance by Professor P. C. Sorcar of
International fame.
7.  Theatrical performance by the girls of the St,
Margaret's School, Ranchi.
8.  Theatrical performances by the Bengali children of
Kanke.
9.  Theatrical performance by the Swatantra Bharat Club,
Ranchi.
10.  Theatrical performance by staff.

(d) Cinema.—20 silent and 4 Talkie shows were given
during the year under report.
