Special efforts were made to discharge 43 chronic and
harmless patients to the care of their relatives who could be
traced out by the Magistrates of their districts. As a result,
18 patients were discharged and in 14 cases no friends or relatives
could be found in spite of vigorous enquiries instituted by the
Magistrates concerned. In 11 cases inability for financial
reasons to take charge of the patients was accepted by the
enquiring Magistrates and they were, therefore, not discharged.
