                        Programme of work.

Investigation of and research into obscure diseases and

                          CHAPTER XI.

                         General remarks.

130.   Propaganda.—Another magic lantern having been
purchased during the year each of the three ranges was provided
with a lantern and necessary slides. These lanterns facilitated
lecturing to a considerable extent.

131.  During the year, altogether 3,374 lectures on various
veterinary subjects were delivered by the staff on important
occasions and they were greatly appreciated by the public.
Demonstration of the veterinary charts and models as well as the
burdizzo castrator and other instruments with distribution of
pamphlets at the fairs and shows, etc., also helped in the matter.
The field veterinary dispensaries have proved a good medium
for propaganda work which will receive further impetus when
the contemplated delivery of lectures at the district board middle
schools throughout the province is introduced. The Director
of Public Instruction has already approved of the idea and issued
instructions to his subordinates. The want of an officer for
systematizing all activities under this head is being keenly felt,
and the sooner such an officer is appointed the better.
