the Prevention of Cruelty to animals having expired on the 16th
March 1930 the post was again sanctioned for one year, and the
same officer, Maulavi A. U. Ahmed, held it up to the end of the
year.

89.  Babu M.M. Banerji, veterinary inspector, Hazaribagh
circle was attached to the Patna Cattle Farm for about six
months, while. Maulavi S. I. H. Akbari, veterinary inspector,
Gaya circle, was deputed to the Prince of Wales Medical
College, Patna, for three months.

90.  On 1st April 1929, there were 123 veterinary assistant
surgeons including the assistant employed under the Bettiah Raj.
During the year, 6 Bihar and Orissa veterinary graduates joined
the department making the number 129. Out of these, one
assistant died, one resigned and one was on deputation to Angul
as Khedda Office? ; so, at the end of the year, the staff employed
in districts consisted of 126 assistants, i.e., 30 hospital and 96
touring.

                                        CHAPTER VII.

                                    LABORATORIES.

92. During the year, 6,163 specimens including blood
smears, pus, faeces, skin scrapings, etc., were received and
examined in the three range laboratories as compared with 8,738
in the year 1928-29. Over and above these, 112 pathological
specimens of tumours, internal and external parasites and other
materials were also examined in the laboratories and many of
them were preserved for the college museum.
