4         REPORT ON THE VETERINARY DEPARTMENT, BURMA,

that these forms will be introduced in supersession of the present C. V.D.
forms during the early months of next year.

                    DISPENSARIES AND HOSPITALS.

three Veterinary Dispensaries situated at Pegu, Myingyan and Pakôkku,
with a Veterinary Hospital at Insein.

giving a daily average of 8.4. This figure does not include 648
animals which were not brought to the hospital but for which the
owners were supplied with medicine. Fifteen in-patients were

It is interesting to note the large number of animals examined which
were found to be suffering from a heavy infestation of internal
parasites. A large number of the dogs examined were found to be
affected with Hook Worm and resulting anaemia and debility.

Examination of fæces and post mortem examinations on horses
indicate that internal parasites appear to be the direct or indirect cause
of considerable losses to Burma. Of canine diseases the common occur-
rence of venereal tumours was noted and Chorea was reported
frequently especially in the months of February and March. More
important and significant is the increased number of cases of rabies
in dogs which were brought to the Hospital for treatment by their
owners.
