12.   Mr. Sen was on tour for 47 days and travelled 967 miles by
road besides the railway journeys. He inspected 2 hospitals, 11 dispen-
saries, 15 rural field dispensaries and 95 villages. In the course of his
tours he interviewed officials and non-officials and delivered short lectures
to livestock owners regarding the care and improvement of livestock
and suppression of various contagious diseases, etc. in the villages.
He inspected the Mounted Military Police poines encamped at
Gaya and while at Headquarters besides paying frequent visits to the
Bankipur Veterinary Hospital, also acted as an Examiner at the Annual
and Diploma Examinations of the Bihar Veterinary College and the
Examining Board of the half-yearly professional examination of the
Subordinate Veterinary Officers.

13.   Babu P. C. Bhattacharji was on tour for 17 days and travelled
410 miles by road in the course of which he inspected 1 hospital, 4 dis-
pensaries, 5 rural field dispensaries and 53 villages. He visited the
Mounted Military Police horses at Arrah and also several Catlle Bathans
on the hills in Sasaram and Bhabua Subdivisions of Shahabad district.
At Headquarters he served both as an Examiner and Secretary to the
Bihar Veterinary Examination Board for the half-yearly professional
examination of the Subordinate Veterinary Officers.

14.   Mr. Gurbachan Singh was on tour for 89 days and travelled
3,610 miles by road. He inspected 4 hospitals, 25 dispensaries, 23 rural
field dispensaries and 250 villages and several Fairs where he delivered
short lectures on the feeding of animals and other aspects of Veterinary
Science. The offices of Veterinary Inspectors of Bhagalpur and Gaya
Circles were inspected by him and several officials and non-officials were
interviewed. He supervised the control measures against outbreaks of
Rinderpest at the Central Jail, Bhagalpur and the Mahadevaganj Gowsala
under Sahebgunj Police Station in Santal Parganas and also an outbreak
of Equine Encephalomyelitis among the Mounted Military Police ponies
at Arrah. He served as an Examiner at the Annual and Diploma Exami-
nations of the Bihar Veterinary College, Patna, and also paid visits to the
Bankipur Veterinary hospital.

                          CHOTA NAGPUR SUB-RANGE.

15.   Babu D. N. Mukherji, who was appointed Assistant Director,
held charge of the Chota Nagpur Sub Range up to 16th April 1940, when
he retired from service. Babu P. C. Bhattacharji on reversion from
Muzaffarpur, held charge of the Sub-Range from the 17th April to 23rd
July 1940, and again from 30th October 1940, till the end of the year.
During the intervening period from 24th July to 29th October 1940.
Babu H. K. Roy, 1st grade Veterinary Inspector, acted as Assistant
Director.

16.   Babu D. N. Mukherji inspected 1 hospital and 3 dispensaries
in addition to 1 rural field dispensary. He was on tour for 8 days, visited
8 villages and travelled 28 miles by road in addition to railway journeys.

17.   Babu P. C. Bhattacharji was on tour for 108 days and travelled
2,839 miles by road in addition to the railway journeys. He visited
