Assistants while on tour, making a total of
365 against 247 animals treated and 5 castrations performed last year.

                        (3) Veterinary Hospitals and Dispensaries.

Veterinary dispensaries—Table V.

9. There were two dispensaries working
in the province during the year under
report, the same number as last year.

One thousand five hundred and forty cases were treated and 10 castrations
performed at the Veterinary dispensaries against 1,380 cases treated and 4
castrations performed in the previous year.

Ajmer Veterinary HospitalTable V.—Veterinary Assistant Abdul Haq
held charge of the veterinary hospital throughout the year. He was assisted
by Veterinary Assistant Sahib Dayal from 1st April to 19th May and Veteri-
nary Assistant Fakhar-ud-din from 28th July 1914 to the end of the year.
Veterinary Assistant Sahib Dayal held the post of junior Veterinary Assistant
from 1st April to 19th May 1914, when he proceeded on leave without pay and
subsequently resigned his appointment. He was replaced by the Veterinary
Assistant Fakhr-ud-din on 28th July 1914, who held charge of the appoint-
ment till the end of the year. The number of animals treated at the hospital
was 806 (155 in-patients and 651 out-patients) against a total of 697 (116
in-patients and 581 out-patients) treated last year. Of the 806 cases treated
213 were equines, 134 bovines and 459 other animals. Five horses, one bullock
and four other animals were castrated at the veterinary hospital. The junior
Veterinary Assistant, while on tour, visited 28 villages, treated 218 animals for
contagious and 3 for non-contagious diseases as shown in table IV, against 7
villages visited, 75 cases treated and 5 castrations performed last year.

Three hundred and seventy-three horses were shod at the dispensary
against 387 horses shod in the previous year. The amount realized on account
of shoeing charges amounted to Rs. 540-6 against Rs. 602-3-6 realized from
this source, last year.

At this hospital fees are charged for the treatment of animals belonging to
people having an income of Rs. 100 per mensem and over, and the amount
realized from this source during the year amounted to Rs. 1,201-5 against
Rs. 1,340-3 realized last year.

Beawar Veterinary Hospital.—Veterinary Assistant Noor Bux was in
charge of this hospital throughout the year.

Table V.

Seven hundred and thirty-four (81 in-patients and 653 out-patients) cases
were treated at the hospital this year
against 683 treated in the previous year.
Of the 734 cases treated 201 were equines, 187 bovines and 346 other animals.
While on tour the Veterinary Assistant visited 96 villages and treated 85 cases
for contagious and. 59 for non-contagious diseases against 87 villages visited and
172 cases treated for contagious and non-contagious diseases last year.

                              III.—BREEDING OPERATIONS.

                                                (1) Bovines.

10. There were two bulls present on 1st April 1914, the property of the
District Board, Ajmer. One bull became
unfit for stud purposes and was made
over to the Dharmada Committee. There was thus a balance of one left at the
close of the year under report. The bulls served 112 cows against 26 served
last year. The cost of maintenance as shown in table XIV-A was Rs. 409-11-9
against Rs. 493-14-8 last year.

There is nothing to be recorded under the heads (2) equines and (3)
others.
