I AM directed to acknowledge the receipt of the
Annual Report on the Administration of the Civil Veterinary
department in the United Provinces for the year ending the
31st March, 1924, forwarded under cover of your letter
no. 2815/XIX—11-609, dated the 24th June/9th July, 1924.

2.     Government have noted the remarks made in para-
graphs 42 and 61 of the report, about the closing of certain
district board veterinary dispensaries and the desirability of
deciding as early as possible the question of prescribing a
minimum veterinary staff for maintenence by district boards
in future. Government are giving close consideration to both
matters, and are only awaiting the result of references to
certain boards before coming to decisions. Orders will be
issued as early as possible.

3.    In paragraph 45 you refer to the demonstration poultry
run at the Badshahbagh station, and remark that research
into fowl diseases is carried on at the laboratory. In view
of the existence of the United Provinces Poultry Association
close to your station which (with substantial Government
assistance) annually carries out demonstration work upon
