opened by the District Boards in the Division, viz., in Dera Ismail Khan and
Dera Gházi Khan. Table O shows the expenses borne by the districts on
account of these and funds from which the expenses are defrayed.

In above you will see that total expenditure under contingencies quoted
in my bill for March 1895, is Rs. 1,151-6-10, while the amount above stated is
Rs. 1,261-10-6, the discrepancy is due to the small receipt of bill for printing
charges. I estimated the indent of forms submitted by me at Rs. 250, while
the bill received amount to only Rs. 139-6-4, as bill for some of the charges have
not yet been received I have shown the whole allotment under the charges as
spent.

                         No. 535, dated 9th July 1895.

From—The Superintendent, Civil Veterinary Department, Baluchistán, Quetta,

To—The Director of Land Records and Agriculture, Punjab, Lahore.

WITH reference to your letter No. 1274, dated the 1st July 1895, I
;have the honor to state that I have just received Returns of Provincial Annual
Administration Report from the Deputy Commissioner, Dera Gházi Khan, and
beg to submit following remarks on it:—

1.  According to report received from the Deputy Commissioner the
number of stallions present in the district on 1st April 1894 was, as stated in
my No. 472, dated the 13th June 1895, one Arab.

2.  The Deputy Commissioner now reports that one country-bred horse
was also standing in the district on that date. One stallion of the Arab breed
is reported to have been purchased by the District Boards during the year
under report. Thus the register number of stallions reached three, which
number are now standing in the district.

3.  No mare seems to have been covered by the stallions during the year
under report and previous year as the covering and foaling returns received are
blank.

4.  The cost of feed of the above stallions has during the year reached
to Rs. 216,—vide Table No. E enclosed.

5.  Table No. F shows the number of mares, suitable for district stallions
present in the district. In my No. 472, dated the 13th June 1895, 1
reported the detail of mares present in the districts of Deraját, which seems to
have omitted in the printed report received from your office.

The number of mares present on 1st April 1894 was in my letter
above referred to reported to be 1,504. The Deputy Commissioner now states
that only 1,500 mares were present at the time.

6.  There are no district donkey stallions in the district, hence the
entries under mule-breeding are blank.

7.  Matters referring to cattle diseases, cattle-breeding, Veterinary
institutions and tours of the Superintendent have already been reported to you.

8.  The Deputy Commissioner gives as below a detail of expenses
defrayed from Local Funds:—
