mallein in the Depot. "Direct Issue" horses retained in the Depot for a
period exceeding 14 days will be tested with mallein before issue.

Youngstock Horses and Mules..—These will be tested with mallein
immediately on receipt and retested after 3 weeks, should it be impossible to
retest the animals at the time laid down owing to the prevalence of Catarrh,
Strangles or other disease, they will be retained in isolation until they have
been subjected to a second test.

A record of all mallein tests will be kept on the back of each animal's ticket.

When subjecting animals to the Mallein Test, the Intradermal palpebral
method will be used except in such cases where it is more convenient and
economical to use the subcutaneous method.

Animals which give a positive or doubtful reaction to the Intradermal
palpebral test, will be retested by the subcutaneous method within thirty-six
hours.

When a doubtful reaction follows the subcutaneous test, the animal will
be isolated and retested after three weeks by the intra-dermal method followed
by the subcutaneous method within thirty-six hours.
