Section 2.                                           General administrative instructions.

(11)  The rate of pay admissible during study leave is the rate of leave pay
admissible under the Military rules.

(12)   On completion of a course of study, a certificate on the proper form
(which may be obtained from the India Office), together with any certificate of
special study, should be forwarded to the Under Secretary of State, Military
Department, who will arrange for the transmission of the copies of the docu-
ments to the D. V. S. in India.

(13)  Study leave will fount as service for promotion and pension, but not
for leave. It will not affect any leave which may already be due to an officer,
and will not be taken into account in reckoning the aggregate amount of leave
admissible under Regulations.

14.   Civilian clerks.—The rules regarding the dismissal, discharge, sus-
pension, reduction and removal of civilian clerks are contained in a separate
pamphlet on this subject.

15.  Formation in Peace of Field Veterinary Units.—The formation
in peace of veterinary units for employment in connection with the training
of troops, requires the sanction of A. H. Q., and is subject to the condition
that all expenses incurred in connection therewith be met under the financial
powers of the commander concerned.

When the formation of such units is sanctioned, the mobilization equip-
ment taken into use must be returned at the conclusion of the training to the
hospital by which it was supplied, and all deficiencies must be replaced with-
out delay.

16.   Reports and Returns.—A list of the special reports and returns
which are to be submitted by V. Os. and veterinary assistant surgeons is
given in Appx. II.

17.  Books and Forms.—The forms authorized for the exclusive use of
the veterinary service are specified in Appx. III. The forms authorized
for general use by the army, including the veterinary service are enumerated
in I. A. F. Z.-2001.

The books to be maintained in veterinary units and hospitals are specified
in Appx. V.

18.  Veterirary arrangements on the line of March.—Instructions
regarding the veterinary arrangements to be made for troops on the line of
march are contained in R. A. I.

The D. A. D. V. S. of a district whence troops move to another district by
road, will forward a copy of I. A. F. V-1755 to the O. C. veterinary hospital
at the station to which the troops are proceeding, through the D. A. D. V. S.
concerned, together with a copy of the last monthly return (I. A. F. V-1760).
Should the monthly return fall duo while troops are on the march from one
district or independent brigade to another. it will be forwarded to the D. A. D.
V. S. of the district or independent brigade to which they are proceeding.

19.  Technical advice regarding Slaughter Stock and Forage.—V.
Os. and vetorinary assistant surgeons will inspect, and render professional
advice on questions connected with slaughter, stock and forage, when required
to do so by the responsible authority.
