This pony was very old (about 20 years) and in poor con-
dition. As this was the first of our animals treated with orpi-
ment, a very small dose of this drug was administered, and it
is probable that the quantity was not sufficient to exert a cura-
tive effect.
Pony 260 which was half the weight of this animal,
received the same amount of atoxyl and orpiment with good
result.

This pony was old and in poor condition. He had been
previously treated with atoxyl and tartar emetic without suc-
cess, and at the time the atoxyl and orpiment treatment was
commenced he was in a very advanced stage of Surra.
