that there was a great increase in the number of cases every fourth year. The
past year, however, proves to have been an exceptional one in this respect, but
then the rainfall, at all events in the Punjab, was not evenly spread over those
months during which it is generally expected to continue.
It will be seen in Statement No. X, that cholera formed but.21 per cent.
of the total admissions, a very small proportion, but that, as shewn in Statement
No. XI, it contributed nearly 16 per cent. of the total mortality, the largest
proportion there has been from this disease since 1872. The mortality of the
cases treated in hospital was at the rate of 53.98 per cent. Sixteen men who
were away from their regiments died from cholera.
50. In Statement No. XII is shewn the regiments in which deaths from
cholera occurred, as well as the stations in which located, with the number of
admissions and deaths.
