EVACUATION.]
In each of the above cases the Collector unhesitatingly attributes the sudden subsidence
of the epidemic to the direct action of evacuation ; an action directly proportionate to the
promptness and rapidity with which it is carried out.
As regards-
(ii.) Evacuation lessens plague mortality.
