| Description | This drawing shows the extensive ruins of Lincluden Collegiate Church, near Dumfries. The artist's name and the date have not been included. Archibald Grim, 3rd Earl of Douglas, established Lincluden Collegiate Church in the late-fourteenth century. It stood on the site of a Benedictine nunnery and included accommodation for its canons. Archibald’s son, the 4th Earl of Douglas, may have added the impressive chancel. It houses the tomb of Margaret, who was the daughter of King Robert III and wife to the 4th Earl. |
