294 FAMILY AND DOMESTIC LETTERS. [1660.
William ninth Earl of Glencairne to Sir George Maxwell of Pollok,
30th January [1660.]
295. Sir, I am glade yee haue concurred in this. I hop in God nothing sail escape
at our meetting, which yee or anie guid man sail neid to disoune, or which sail
not be still in order to the good old cause ; and I sail, throught the Lord's
assistance, endeavour not to frustrate the guid thoghts yee haue of my selfe,
and sail, in everie thing I cane, studie to giue the shyre ane speidie account.
I wash all our thoghts, that ar Scottsmen, wer made one, and I sould not much
doubt bot that might be the forrunninge of a blessing to thir poor nations. I
sail say no mor bot that I sail in all integritie continou,

29 6. Sir, being advertised by my Lord General! imediatlie to repair to London with
the rest of the Comissioners, and it being werie lik wee may goe shortlie, I sail
intreat you at this meittinge to advertise the collector to hau the moneys of
this shyr in readines against my returne hear, whilk will be in 8 or 1 days ;
and if neid beis, I wold hau you giue neu advertisments from this meitting to
hasten thair payment. I hop in God business sail goe in that way as nather
the shyre nor Scotland sail repent this charge ; and if it be in my pouer to
serve your self, I assuir you I sail doe it with als much friedom as anie yee
hau interest in ; for besyd your oun worth, my inclinations to deserve your
