in Ireland, to Sir John Maxwell of Pollok, 23d November 1633.

your letter also, to the Erie of Traquare, quhilkis bothe yee sail receive with
the Duke's grace letter to the Chancellour, quliilk since our parteinge I have
resolvit to send eiste to be dehvert to the Chancellour be the Erie of Traquare,
as ze will perceive by reidinge your awin lettir. Wherfor, caus dispach thame
eist with all diligence, and acquante Mr. William Cochran heirwith. I rest,
Your loveinge coossen to doe yow service,

Pervse my letter, and thereftir cloise itt with some stampt that wantis
name and armes.

247. Right worshipfulle and loving frind, I can wryt no mor to you then what I did
with William Cokburn about the Castell of Dumbritan, till I hear what hes bin
done the 19 of this instant. As for your aun busines, after my cuming wp I
desyred the Douk to subscryve your tak, which he was willing to doe ; bot
when I presented it, his grace was not pleased with the forme of it, becaus ther
was no rent spesified in it, bot onlie the deutis wsed and wont, which he did
not wnderstand ; and it sims sum had informed him that it was mor worth
then I said. Whairupon I desyred his grace to caus my Lord Traquair informe
