io THE FIFE PITCAIRNS.
The following are the two copies of the original charter : —
i. Copy of the one formerly in possession of Mr Robert
Pitcairn, W.S., Edinburgh, made by Mr Macfarlane the
antiquary in the eighteenth century.
2. The one copied many years ago by the Rev. David
Lee Pitcairn's uncle from a charter at that time in the
General Register House, Edinburgh, is not there now,
and all trace of it is lost.

Carta Alexandri Regis Confirmatoria de Terra de Innernithyn.
Alexander Dei Gratia Rex Scotorum omnibus probis hominibus
totius terras sua salutem. Sciant presentes et futuri nos concessisse,
et hoc Carta nostra confirmasse Donationem illam quam Hugo de
Abirnithyn fecit Johanni de Petcarn consanguineo suo pro Homagio
ac servitio de tota terra de Innernithyn ex occidentali parte Potti,
tenendam et habendam eidem Johanni et hseredibus suis de predicto
Hugone et hseredibus suis in Feodo et hasreditate per rectas divisas
suas cum omnibus pertinentiis suis ita libere quiete plenarie et
honorifice sicut Carta dicti Hugonis inde prefato Johanni plenius
confecta juste testatur, salvo nostro servitio. Testibus Roberto de
Ross, Roberto de Meynes, Gilberto de Haya, Johanne de Vallibus,
Ricardo Marescall, Thoma filio Ranulfi apud castrum puellarum
tertio Die Junii, Anno Regni Domini Regis primo.

Hugh of Abernethy to John of Petcarn. Dated 3 June
[1250].
