pay him, as remuneration for his services, such an annual
sum as they may think proper.
9. The Treasurer and Clerk shall call and attend all Meet-
ings of the Governors, keep the minutes of such Meetings,
and conduct all correspondence on the affairs of the Hospital.
He shall superintend the investment of the funds as herein-
before provided, draw and receive all the revenues and pro-
duce thereof, and pay the same into Bank, to the credit of
the Hospital account, in such a manner, and at such times,
as never to have in his hands an amount of cash exceeding
£10 sterling, under the penalty of being charged with interest
on such excess at the rate of 20 per cent, per annum, during
the time he shall have retained the same. He shall also make
payment of all sums of money, for which he shall receive the
authority of a Meeting of the Governors, or of a Committee
of their number, duly authorized to grant such authority,
and shall discharge such other duties in connection with the
Management of the Hospital as the Governors shall direct.
10. The Governors shall, from time to time, fix on one of
the Chartered Banks, with which an account shall be kept in
name of the Hospital ; and the Treasurer shall pay into such
account the revenues and produce of the whole property
belonging to the Hospital, together with the interest which
may accrue thereon ; and the said account shall be operated
upon, and sums drawn therefrom, by means of cheques or
orders signed by the Treasurer and two or more of the
Governors, and not otherwise.
11. The account of charge and discharge of the Treasurer s
intromissions, together with the vouchers and instructions of
the same, shall, once every year, be examined and chequed
by an Auditor, to be named for that purpose by the Gover-
nors ; and such Auditor shall cause abstracts of the said
accounts to be prepared and transmitted to the Governors,
along with a Report by him, stating whether the income of
the Hospital for the year has been exceeded by the expendi-
ture, or the contrary, and specifying the amount of the
deficiency or surplus.
12. If at any time it shall appear that the sums paid or
payable during any year, for the purposes herein directed,
exceed the clear available income and revenue of such year,
