Part VI with Mathew Wedderbum of Benridge, farmer, who died at Ponteland 2S Feb. 1806, rot. 64, married at
Chap. IV. Ponteland 28 Dec. 1773 Mary Tone, by whom he had issue three sons,
1. Matthew Weatherburn, 1 baptized at Ponteland 1 Jan. 1787.
2. Lancelot "Weatherburn, baptized at Ponteland 12 July 1789 ; see below.
3. John Weatherburn, baptized at Ponteland 12 April 1791, and there buried 15 April 1791.
and two daughters,
Mary, baptized at Ponteland 17 June 17S9, buried there 22 May 1796 ; and Barbara, baptized there
28 Sept. 1783.
Their mother, Mary Tone, died a few days after her son John, and was buried at Ponteland 19 April
1791. I think her husband must have married again, as his grandson, Lancelot Wedderburn, while
accepting the above account of his grandfather's family, says that his wife's name was Allison. 2 He is able
to give no account of his uncle Mathew, but supplies the following in regard to his father and himself.
Lancelot Wedderburn. or Weatherburn. baptized at Ponteland 12 July 1789, died 12 May 1878,
buried at Huddersfield, co. York. He was for some years a sea captain in the transport service, but retired
and became a tobacco manufacturer. He married Henrietta Metcalf of Thornton-le-Street, Thirsk,
co. York, and by her had two sons and a daughter ;
1. Lancelot Wedderburn or Weatherburn, born at Thirsk 11 July 1817 ; now (1891) of Hope House,
Moor Allerton. Leeds. 3 He has resumed the spelling of his surname as Wedderburn. He married,
i., at St. John's, Leeds, 27 March 1839, Lucinda Turley, who d.s.p. ; ii.,at St. Leonard's Church
Malton, co. Yorks, 2 Oct. 1863, Elizabeth Kenyon Allen, daughter to William Allen of the
Lodge, Maltou, and by her has two sons and a daughter ;
1. Herbert 'Wilson Wedderburn, born at Hope House 26 Dec. 1S64.
2. Lancelot William Wedderburn, born at Hope House 1 April 1867.
and
Edith Mary, born at Hope House 6 Jan. 1866.
2. Luke James Weatherburn, born at Huddersfield 8 March 1S19, died before 1891 ;
and
Henrietta, born there 21 Oct. 1824, died before 1891.

I add a list of various individuals belonging to Northumberland whom I find mentioned chiefly in
the registers at Somerset House, but of whom I have no details.

Anne Wedderburn, an old miser, who died 17 July 1813. See Scots' Magazine 1813, p. 640, where
some account of her personality is given, but none of her history.
Barbara Wedderburn (daughter of David Wedderburn), died at Newcastle, 7 Nov. 1840, set. 5.
Barbara Wedderburn, born at Morpeth, April 1858.
Catharine Wedderburn, widow, died at Newcastle, 1890.
Elias Wedderburn married Mary Martin and had a son Thomas Wedderburn, born and died at
Oldgate, Morpeth, 1884.
Elizabeth Jane Wedderburn (daughter of the late David Wedderburn, engine fitter), married
set. 20, at Newcastle, March 1881, James Baird, widower.
Frances Wedderburn, daughter of Thomas Wedderburn, married at Newcastle, July 1837, John
Richardson.
Frances Wedderburn, born at Morpeth, Oct. 1860.
Henry Wedderburn, of Berwick, and his wife, Isabella , both died Dec. 1847, His age is
given as 81.
Isabella Wedderburn (wife of W T illiam Wedderburn, miner), died at Chevingtou, Morpeth, June
1883, set. 29.

Jane Wedderburn, daughter of David Wedderburn, married at Morpeth, June 1858, Henry Brown.
John Wedderburn, railway employe 5 , died at South Shields, Jan. 1879, set. 54.
John Wedderburn or Weatherburn (son of Thomas Weatherburn), married oot. 24, at Wooler,.
Berwick, Oct. 1882, Patience Benwell. William Weatherburn is a witness. (This is indexed
s. Wedderburn, but the name in the entry is given as Weatherburn).
Margaret Wedderburn, widow of Henry Wedderburn, died at Scremerston, 1859, ajt. 85.
Margaret Wedderburn (daughter of Henry Wedderburn, seaman, married at Berwick, Dec.
1886, set 24, Alexander Shaw of Berwick.
Mary Ann Wedderburn, born at Newcastle, 1849.
Robert Nesbit Wedderburn, fishmonger, Tweedmouth, married set. 30, at Berwick, in 1847,
Hannah Willis, and had issue three sons, all living in 1855, a daughter who died before that date, and
another daughter Hannah Rebecca, born at Kelso, 29 Aug. 1855.
Thomas Wedderburn (son of Thomas Wedderburn), married at Ellingham, 1841, Margaret
Douglas, and had issue Thomas Fulder Wedderburn, born 1S42 ; James Wedderburn, born
1843 ; and Joan, born 1848.
Thomas Wedderburn (son of John Wedderburn and Mary Ann Lipsit) died at Killing-
worth, Tynemouth, 1850.
William Watson Wedderburn died ret. 3, at Berwick, Dec. 1847. Henry Wedderburn
informs. The mother's name is given as Isabella.
