P. 9. — " Obligation, James Macdonald, of Castell Karnes, to the Bishop of the
Isles, 1575-6. Be it kend till all men be thir present lettres, me, James
M c Donill, Growemych of Castell Games, sikerlie to be bunden and oblist, &c.
that we sail content, pay, and deliver to the said reverend fader, his airis,
executouris, and assigneis, all males and deuteis pertaining to the said revereud
fader within North Uyest, Slait, and Troternes, that I tuik up or iutrometit
with sen the decess of umquhile Donald M c Donald, gorme of Troternes, (nephew
to James M c Donill,) maid betwix me and Clane-alespik, clerych of the said Donill
M c DonilI, gormes, &c. Donald M c Donill, son and air to the said umqle Donald
McDonald, gormes of Troternes. The xvij day of Marche, the yeir of God
l m v c threscore fiveteen (1575) yeris, befor thir witnesses, Archbald, Johue
M'Conill M c James, servitors to James M'Conill, and William Cuming, notar-
pulilick. (Sic subscribitur,) I, James M'Conill, growmeicht, with my hand at the
pen led by W. Cuming, notar-publick, be me speciale desirit thairto."
P. 12. — " Obligation, Angus Macdonald, of Dunyveg, to the Bishop of the Isles,
1580. Be it kend till all men be thir present lettres, we, Angus M'Conill, of
Donyvaig. (Sic subscribitur,) Angus M c Donald, of Donovaig."
P. 88. — " Obligation by James, Duke of Chastellaura dt, Earl of Arran, and
Lord Hamilton, to James Macdonald of Dunyveg, in reference to the Duke's Isle
of Arran, 15.56. We, James, Due of Chastellaurault, Erie of Arrane, and Lord
Hamilton, oblicis us to ane honorable man, James M'Oncle, of Donnawaik, to
Agnes Campbell, spouse to the said James, that we shall, in all gudly hest, infeft
the said James, and Agnes Campbell, bis spouse, in all and haill the landis of
Saddell."

to Ninian Bannatyne, of Karnes, with obligation of manrcnt by Bannatyne in
return, 1577. Angus M'Conaill, of Dunavaig and Glcnnis. Subscribed by Angus
Macdonald and Hector Bannatyne, (for his father.)"
